New from CúlCroÍ8: The Beckett Smartphone App

Hey Guys, CúlCroÍ8@Beckett here. What’s up and welcome to the first ever issue of our all-new and mind-blowing weekly creativity upgrade: “Fire That’s In Me Now.” Each week we’ll be opening the floor to you guys and giving you the opportunity to showcase one of YOUR inspiring creative products. The only rule is that all entries must push the envelope and stay true to Samuel Beckett’s philosophy of non-stop creativity, entrepreneurialism, social engagement and community empowerment. This week’s winner is Ronan Brady. Ronan has sent us in this awesome new smartphone app he created: “Samuel Says.” Let’s take a look:

Hey dudes, Ronan here, and welcome to my new smartphone app, “Samuel Says.” Because it’s hard sometimes to get inspired as a creative, I’ve created this app to help. Simply select the Beckett icon on your screen to enter. Once inside, touch Sam on the nose and he will offer you an inspiring quote from one of his works, along with an explanation of how this wisdom can help you in your day-to-day life as a creative. Sometimes he’ll tell you about challenges he’s faced as a creative, and sometimes he’ll tell you about cool events in Dublin too. Currently the app is only out on Android, but we’re working on an iPhone version and should have it ready very soon. Below you can see some of the awesome daily advice Sam has to offer:
“A voice comes to one in the dark. Imagine. To one on his back in the  dark.”  We are so awesomely connected now thanks to smartphones and the internet. In the old days sometimes you’d find yourself alone and having negative thoughts and it could be hard to stay positive in the small hours, but now, even in the darkest times, your friends are only a WhatsApp away and you never need to be alone again. So always stay connected to those supportive voices you carry in your pocket!
“…where I am, I don’t know, I’ll never know, in the silence you don’t know, you must go on, I can’t go on, I’ll go on.” Remember, perseverance is the one iron rule in business and creativity. Even if you feel confused about where your start-up is going or what your agency expects of you, just look up, believe in yourself and push ahead. Even if no-one else can see it, you know that your day is coming, and that’s what really counts.
”Nothing is funnier than unhappiness, I grant you that.” Learn to laugh at yourself, even when you’re feeling down, and the world will laugh along with you. Remember, if you think positive thoughts, great things will come your way – that’s how the universe works!
”Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn’t want them back. Not with the fire in me now.” One thing you must always bear in mind, guys. The best time of your life is always, always RIGHT NOW. So cheer up and PARTY HARD!! You’re not getting old – you’re getting…sophisticated.
”Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” Success in creativity doesn’t come overnight. Remember, even Steve Jobs was out in the cold for a while – until Apple begged him to come back! If you learn from your mistakes and become a better entrepreneur as a result, even if you’ve failed that one project, you’ve succeeded in the game of WIN. You can learn about this awesomeness right now in the Science Gallery! #sciencegalleryfailurerulez
”…clear to me at last that the dark I have always struggled to keep under is in reality my most –“Awesome resource! LOL! Remember, to be a true creative, you’ve got to know yourself best and put yourself first. Know what makes you tick, what makes you original, what only YOU can offer your agency, because knowing yourself is the first step to doing what you love.
”The tears stream down my cheeks from my unblinking eyes. What makes me weep so? From time to time. There is nothing saddening here. Perhaps it is liquefied brain.” Negativity is all in your mind. Reality is subjective - learn to see things from a positive perspective and the sun will always shine; remember, you are a beautiful person.
”Let me say before I go any further that I forgive nobody. I wish them all an atrocious life and then the fires and ice of hell and in the execrable generations to come an honoured name.” Erm, LOL!?! Must have eaten a rotten burrito that day, ha ha…

Okay guys, that’s all for this week. I think we can all safely say that Ronan is on to a winner and that his app is absolutely awesome. It’s gonna be available to download this Tuesday, so get on Twitter, get on Facebook, get everywhere you can and  spread the love for the Beckett philosophy.
Peace out,
The CúlCroÍ8@Beckett Team
